I can love & tolerate the new voice… I do not mind her eyes are (less) Derp… or she no longer Derps-up (that much.) I do mind when someone censors another in such a detrimental way.
People need to take a step back to observe and contemplate what they done. Realize that what they did was wrong; changing someone (or somepony in this case) because they are different and do not fit the status quo is debauched and gives mixed signals. We need to change ourselves, not force others to change.
I rather live in my delusional world where every time Rainbow Dash says her censored name I hear: “Derpy”
Keep Derpy, the way we know and love, alive my Bronies.
Well, I like the new voice a little better, but not by much. I think it's a little bit of a nudge in the right direction, but there was something on the old voice that I also liked. Like, they tried making it more girly... which is OK... but something is missing.
arguably* and characters*, "Derpy being arguably one of the most influential characters"*. And, "in my opinion"* at the end. I was really tired when I typed that.
"Well, considering that the show has helped a LOT of people deal with thier issues, and Derpy being arguably one of the most influential characters(in some respects a symbol of the show itself), I think the general reaction over the fandom was quite adequate. Although, that's just my opinion" Is what it should have said.
Sorry, I accidentally my grammar lol. When i'm tired I can't think coherently.
It wasn't the grammar that confused me, it was the content. I'm not sure where you're getting "arguably the most influential characters" from. Previous to her few lines in The Last Roundup, she's just been a background character and animation flub. Anything more than that was purely fanon.
I didn't mean her to be influential in the cannonical sense, no. How do I put this? To a lot of people, i'm not sure you are entirely aware of this, she has became a Symbol to the very fandom, or something just as big. In other words, she is an important character just in the fact that she was invented by us, and not the Creators of the show. She represents a large chunk of the Fandom. To have such a largely loved character Cannonized, then just blotched out, I think the reaction pertaining to the action is equal in that sense, it was to be expected. But this is just my opinion have you mind. If you think it is an over reaction, just be on your merry way and ignore me if you like.
Although, I must say the whole controversy has been fully recognized by Amy Keating Rogers, and she has explained Derpy's situation in the whole. It's on Equestria Daily if you haven't read it and are currious.
Smitty NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Sure the higher tone was what I first expected of her, but I grew to love the old voice. It doesn't help that this one was poorly executed :/... besides, it's not just her voice, RD's was ruined for that scene too, and they took away her name. Lastly it's the message it sends... that Hasbro folded and changed this because of some whiny pricks... also, we still miss you...
They made the tone higher, which wouldn't be that bad, but the acting in it was just phoned in. It felt hollow and emotionless. It MIGHT have worked if they actually gave her some emotion rather than an almost monotonous droll. They changed RD's lines too, and gave her a bad voice in it as well.
it may not be HASBRO and Studio B, it is only the itunes version so far that is edited, not the one Hub has on their site, so it may just be Apple covering their flanks in the wake of this whole mess...
I'm totally ok with changing her voice... seriously, it really DID sound like she was retardet, not just "derpy"... But I did not realize they took out the name, too... that went a little too far, yeah > . >
not to mention the way RD's voice sounded... I doubt that's even Ashleigh Ball. However, I didn't like her old voice right away, but it grew on me. I never thought it sounded "retarded". Hell it was cute in its own way, and I prefer it to the one they used.
Case in point the edit was pointless, they took away her name, phoned in her voice, and RD sounded like shit. That's my view on all this
Well, I really like her new voice better... it sounds way more how I always imagined it but that is, like everything else about this topic, just a matter of opinion. I agree with you that the edit is completely pointless... would have hurt nobody to keep it the way it was. But you know how it is... people always find something to get bitchy about...
"Case in point the edit was pointless, they took away her name, phoned in her voice, and RD sounded like shit. That's my view on all this"
When I first heard her old voice, I didn't like it right away, but the more I rewatched it, the more I liked it. Look what you've done, fandumbers! (Urban dictionary description: Fans being: opinionated, argumentative, rude, touchy, ignorant, wanky, whiny, elitist, irrational, or any combination of the above. In short, fans behaving foolishly.)
Still, the old Derpy will be in my heart forever, with that cute voice, derpyness, muffins and a huge wish to hug her.
My thoughts exactly. To one idiot parent there's a thousand fans who loved Derpy just the way she was. I wasn't too fond with the old voice at first either but it grew on me eventually.
She was a personification of the fandom, something that finally united the show to its fanbase. And for Hasbro to underp her eyes, remove the name and replace the voice with a horrible dub... to basically remove her from existence. That's more than harsh.
In my opinion it isn't fair because the majority are us and minority are them (overreacting people etc.).
It is dissapoints me, but I don't think they did it on propose. Because the company Hasbro etc. might get sued for it if the offended people (parents or people with mental problems) can prove that Derpy is mocking, by making fun of people with mental problems.
Anyway....keep up the great art and I am looking [insert horrible singer joke]. Derpy! NO! My voice!
